My French 75 Cocktail

Sometimes you come home after a long day and just need a refreshing cocktail. This is a recipe that I love to make for my boyfriend and me after work that is so crisp and delicious. It is easy to make and I feel like I’m transported to a cute little lounge from the comfort of my own sofa.

Here’s what you need for two cocktails

-1 bottle of champagne or your favorite bubbly

-1 big lemon

-2 oz of your favorite gin

-1tbsp sugar for the rim

Also grab a cocktail shaker or a small pitcher, a citrus juicer, a mesh strainer, and a small plate.

I start with the rimming the glasses with sugar. Pour your sugar onto a small plate. Now cut your lemon in half and run it along the edge of your glass. Then take your glass and press it into the sugar. You can cover the whole rim or just half so that it’s less sugar, I like the whole thing! This makes it looks so pretty. Set the rimmed glasses aside and grab your cocktail shaker and fill it with ice.

Now for the cocktail concoction, juice the lemon into your shaker, both halves. I like to use a handheld juicer and a strainer to catch the seeds and the majority of the pulp. Now measure out two shots of gin into your shaker. I prefer Bombay Sapphire. Pop the top on and give it a good shake! Pour the gin and lemon evenly between your two glasses.

Pop your champagne open and top the glasses off and enjoy! The lemon is so fresh and the bubbly adds a fun effervescence.
